About Colorado

In 1876, Colorado, also known as the Centennial State, became the 38th state to enter the United States. Colorado is the eighth largest state in the United States. The capital and largest city is Denver. Colorado consists of the Rocky Mountains and the High Plains of the Great Plains. Much of the eastern part of Colorado is covered in farmland. The climate ranges from hot and humid in the summer to very cold, icy, and snowy in the winter.

1878 brought the discovery of silver in Leadville, Colorado, which ignited the Colorado Silver Boom. As a result, the Sherman Silver Purchase Act of 1890 allowed silver mining and a gold strike at Cripple Creek. This lured many people to the state. Along with silver and gold mining in the 1800s, cattle, wheat, corn, hay, and dairy products are the current top agricultural products sourced from the state.

Many manufacturers are also located in Colorado, including ATS Diesel Performance, which provides car companies with parts for diesel trucks like air intakes, fuel systems, and clutches. They provide all the necessary parts to Ford, GM, and Chrysler. There are also many universities geared towards getting students into the auto industry, such as Colorado State University-Pueblo, which offers a Bachelor of Science degree to prepare students for the automotive industry.
